Cultural tour in Nairobi Kenya

Day 1: Welcome to Kenya

Welcome to Kenya!  On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

ACCOMMODATIONS: House of Waine, Karen Gables House, Villa Rosa Kempinski, Hemingways Nairobi, Giraffe Manor

Day 2: Exploring Nairobi

Spend the day exploring Nairobi–you’ll visit the elephant nursery at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, hand-feed giraffes at the Giraffe Center, and take in local culture and history.  If you’re ready to explore the wilderness, set out on an afternoon game drive in Nairobi National Park.

Day 3-4: Views of Mt. Kilimanjaro

Transfer to Amboseli National Park by road or light aircraft, arriving for an afternoon game drive in the park.

The following day, set out in search of the wildlife and spectacular elephant herds that Amboseli is best known for.

Day 5-6: Exploring Ngorongoro

Today takes you across the border to Tanzania.  In the morning, set out by road for the border, crossing over to meet your Tanzania guide.  Stop for lunch in Arusha before continuing on to Ngorongoro, arriving in the afternoon to relax and enjoy the lodge.

The following day, head out on a game drive along the Crater Floor.  A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest caldera and home to the work’s highest concentration of year-round resident wildlife.

Day 7-9: The Serengeti's Endless Plains

Transfer by road or light aircraft to the Serengeti, where the endless plains and spectacular wildlife viewing await you.  Our recommendations on where to stay will vary depending on the time of year and what wildlife you hope to see, with the wildebeest migration often being a main draw for travelers to the region.

Spend these days wildlife viewing on game drives, with an optional hot air balloon safari highly recommended at sunrise over the savanna.

Day 10-12: Exploring Masai Mara

Your journey brings you full circle back to Kenya, connecting to the Masai Mara by a combination of road transfers and light aircraft.  Once in the Mara, you’ll have time to explore the wilderness of this iconic reserve or the surrounding conservancies on game drives, with a nature walk and Maasai village visit recommended as well.

Day 13-14: The Samburu Special Five

Your final stop in the wilderness of Kenya is Samburu National Reserve, home to a unique array of wildlife including the Samburu Special Five.  Transfer by light aircraft from Mara to Samburu.  Here, you’ll explore the area on game drives, with the option of visiting with the Samburu tribe as well.  Consider bringing your journey to a close with a bush dinner or sundowners from the lodge.

Day 15: Departure

Return to Nairobi by light aircraft, transferring to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in time for your international outbound flight.
