Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Johannesburg

Welcome to South Africa!  On arrival at OR Tambo International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2-3: Exploring the City of Gold

Spend these days exploring Johannesburg in the company of a guide.  Depending on your interests, you might set out on a tour of Soweto by tuk tuk or bicycle to take in the culture, history, and daily life of the neighborhoods; visit the Apartheid Museum and Mandela House; explore on foot with a guided tour of street art in the bustling Maboneng neighborhood; or enjoy meals at the city’s top restaurants.

Day 4: On Safari

In the morning, transfer to the Johannesburg airport for your scheduled flight towards the Greater Kruger.  Depending on traveler interests, we can recommend a location and lodge that best fits what guests are looking for.  From the national park to private reserves such Sabi Sands, Timbavati, Kapama, Klaserie, or Thornybush and beyond, there’s no something for everyone in this spectacular region.

Day 5-7: Game Viewing in the Greater Kruger

Spend these days game viewing in one of the private reserves along Kruger National Park. Striking landscapes meet the Big Five, offering unparalleled opportunities for game drives and walking safaris, depending on the reserve.  Immerse yourself in the rhythm of the wild as expert guides lead you through private reserves, where up-close encounters with elephants, lions, rhinos, and more await. 

Day 8-9: In the Winelands

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight to Cape Town, followed by road transfer to the Winelands.   During your stay, enjoy a privately guided wine tour with tastings at several wineries in the region.  From hiking to mountain biking and horseback riding, the Winelands offer plenty of other active pursuits, and a stroll through Franschhoek is always worth the time to check out the local shops, galleries, and restaurants.

Day 10-11: Table Mountain & Cape Town Sights

Check out of your accommodations in the Winelands, where you’ll be transferred to Cape Town.  

Over the next few days, enjoy a private tour of Cape Town including a visit to the top of Table Mountain via cable car, where you’ll take in the sights over the city.  Depending on your interest, other stops might include visiting the colorful Bo Kaap neighborhood, taking in a food tour of the city, or exploring the area’s historical sights such as Robben Island or the Castle of Good Hope.

Day 12: Penguins & Chapman's Peak Drive

Set out for a scenic drive on a private tour of the Cape Peninsula, including the breathtaking views along Chapman’s Peak Drive, the Cape of Good Hope, and of course, the charming penguins of Boulders Beach.

Day 13: Exploring Cape Town

The day is yours to relax at your hotel or explore Cape Town.  Whether it’s enjoying scenic helicopter flight, setting out on an evening boat cruise, paragliding, exploring the city’s many galleries, shops,and markets, wandering along the bustling V&A waterfront, or settling in to enjoy Cape Town’s stellar dining scene, there’s no shortage of ways to experience this incredible city.

Day 14: Departure

In the morning, you’ll be transferred to the Cape Town International Airport (CPT) for your outbound flight.
