Our Story

It’s hard to explain the level of dedication and passion that our team brings to each and every travel experience we create for our clients. But when you travel with us, that’s what you get: a team of experts who knows the region, understands the safari experience, and is fully committed to carrying out a tailor-made trip like no other…just for you.

The company was founded in 2017 between trusted friends and family: Andrew Wegoye (a native Ugandan who began his career guiding visiting volunteers to Uganda through an international nonprofit), his wife Elizabeth Wegoye (an American with a penchant for travel and the natural world), and longtime friend Toby Ssekatawa (a native Ugandan with a background in tourism and over a decade’s experience in the safari industry).

Together, they realized a long-term dream and created Hornbill Treks and Safaris, dedicated to helping travelers explore the region of East Africa while supporting its local communities and preserving its wildlife.
