Our Story

Hornbill Treks and Safaris was founded by Andrew & Elizabeth Wegoye and Tobias Ssekatawa in 2017. They envisioned offering travelers the opportunity to explore the marvels of Africa on safari while supporting its local communities and preserving its wildlife.

Andrew began his career guiding visiting volunteers in Uganda through an international nonprofit. Born and raised in the U.S., Elizabeth’s family had a history on the African continent that went back decades, sparking an early love for travel and Africa. Tobias brought a background in tourism and over a decade’s experience in the safari industry.

Together, they founded Hornbill to connect travelers with the heart of Africa’s wilderness on tailor-made safaris, each crafted with a cheerful attention to detail and genuine belief that great travel can do good.
