Trip Itinerary

Hotel No. 5 is a luxury hotel in Entebbe, Uganda.

Day 1: In the Pearl of Africa

Karibu—a very warm welcome to Uganda! Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be picked up by a representative of Hornbill Treks & Safaris and transferred to your accommodations in Entebbe. You’ll have a safari briefing and time for questions regarding your adventure across Uganda.  Enjoy the rest of the evening at your leisure.

Day 2: Journey to Kibale Forest

In the morning, depart for Kibale Forest National Park via scheduled flight.

Kibale Forest is home to at least thirteen primate species, including the red colobus and L’Hoest’s monkey, earning its reputation as “the Primate Capital of the World.” If this weren’t enough, Kibale also boasts a remarkable opportunity to track habituated chimpanzees.

Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at your accommodations.

Chimp trekking is one of Uganda's most popular safari activities.

Day 3: Chimp Trekking & A Walk in the Wetlands

In the morning, set out on your chimpanzee trek in the rainforest. The trek, which may last two to four hours, offers the chance of watching chimps in their natural habitat.  After the trek, return to your accommodations for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a nature walk through the Bigodi Wetlands. This wildlife corridor is home to over 200 species of birds–including the Blue Turaco, Kingfishers, Hornbills, and more–as well as eight species of primates.

The Bigodi Wetlands conservation project began as a local environmental effort run by the communities of Kibale. Beyond conserving the wetlands and its wildlife, the project has also supported the building of a local school, safe drinking water for locals, and local health care efforts.

Day 4: Through the Rift Valley

Transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to the approximately half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas.

 This ancient forest unfolds over the steep ridges of the Albertine Rift Valley, providing breathtaking views and extraordinary viewing opportunities. Later, relax at the lodge or take a sunset stroll through the area.

Day 5: Meet the Gorillas of Bwindi

The hike of a lifetime begins today. After breakfast we will meet the park rangers who will be our guides for the day, and then we will start the trek in search of the exquisite mountain gorillas of Uganda. Round-trip, trekking can last between three and eight hours total.  Once you discover the gorillas, you will be able to spend one unforgettable hour with them. Gorilla trekking begins where the gorillas were last seen the previous day.

After your trek, visit with a local women’s cooperative for an authentic experience with Uganda culture.  Return to your accommodations for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Arusha

Transfer to the Kihihi Airstrip for your return flight to Entebbe, arriving in time for your outbound flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania.

Upon arrival, you will be met by a representative of Hornbill Treks & Safaris and transferred to your accommodations in Arusha.

Tarangire National Park, Tanzania, is one of Tanzania's Northern Circuit safari destinations.

Day 7-8: Among the Elephants

In the morning, depart with your guide for Tarangire National Park, taking in the seemingly endless vistas for which Tanzania is so well known. Along the way, stop to visit a local Maasai boma for a traditional, authentic look at Maasai culture.

Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the park.  The following day, continue your explorations of the park on game drives.

Day 9: Wildlife Viewing & Cultural Walk

After breakfast, transfer to Manyara National Park for a game drive, with a cultural visit in the nearby village of Mto wa Mbu.  

Continue on to your accommodations along the Crater Rim or in Karatu.

Day 10: Ngorongoro

Today your journey takes you to the famous Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest extinct caldera and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering the highest density of wildlife in East Africa. The Crater is home to more than 25,000 animals, many of which stay throughout the year in the Crater due to constant water availability and grazing grounds. Look out for buffalo, gazelles and zebras as well as elephants, hyenas and lions.

In the afternoon, head back to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 11-13: Safari in the Serengeti

In the morning, transfer to the Serengeti by road or light aircraft.

Explore the heart of Serengeti during the next few days on game drives and search for its rich predator population. Cheetahs prefer the medium and long-grass plains where they can freely move around and find their preferred prey. Leopards are common throughout the park and are often found in the canopy of an acacia or sausage tree overlooking the savannah for a good vintage point. Lions are seen on a regular basis, usually relaxing in the grasses.

Day 14: Departure

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge before returning by light aircraft to Kilimanjaro International Airport, arriving for your international departing flight.
